Our History

Owned by Sentinel Leader LLC, Larry & Mary Peck

We purchased The Sentinel Leader in August 2022 bringing 35 years of publishing experience with Ag Youth Magazine, a legend in the club animal industry. The Peck Family have been residents of Sentinel since 1979.

All of our staff are graduates of Oklahoma State University with degrees in Animal Science. Larry served as the Sentinel Ag Teacher from 1979 until 2018. When he’s not chasing down information for the newspaper, he oversees our Simmental-based cow-calf operation

Mary served the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service as a 4-H Youth Development Educator for 24 years (Custer County 1979-1983; Kiowa County 1983-1984; Kiowa and Washita Counties 1984-1986; Woodward County 1986-1987; Custer County 1990-1992; Washita County 2000-2013). After retirement from Extension, Mary served eight years with the South Western Oklahoma Development Authority as a marketing and business development associate.
